Charges Filed in Deadly Lilburn Motorcycle Crash

Police say 23-year-old Amberyana Worthey, who faces a vehicular homicide charge, left the scene before returning.

LILBURN, GA -- Charges have been filed in a motorcycle crash on Lawrenceville Highway that killed a 42-year-old Lawrenceville man.

Amberyana Worthey, 23, faces charges of first-degree vehicular homicide, failure to yield and hit and run in the April 26 wreck, Lilburn Police announced Friday.

According to police, the motorcycle being ridden by Thomas Baptiste, 42, of Lawrenceville, was traveling south when he was struck and killed by Worthey's Acura sedan, which was turning left onto Summer Ridge Lane.

The collision happened at about 6 a.m.

Police say Worthey originally left the scene of the crash, but returned a short time later.

Since that time, accident investigators have been interviewing witnesses and reviewing evidence in the case, a news release Friday said.

Worthey turned herself in a the Lilburn Police Department on Thursday and was taken to Gwinnett County Jail for booking, police said.
