Beagle Buried Alive In Gwinnett Dumpster Finds New Home

A beagle has been rescued and adopted after it was found buried alive under a pile of trash in a dumpster last week.

LILBURN, GA — A beagle has been rescued and adopted after it was found buried alive under a pile of trash in a dumpster last week, behind a Lilburn business.

Emily Goldstein’s friend, who knows she's an animal advocate, told her about the dog after he found him in a dumpster. The friend said he heard whining coming from the dumpster behind where he works. He and his coworkers dug through the trash, only to find a beagle who appeared to be between a year or two years old.

“He was buried under garbage and it was trash day so he could have been killed,” Goldstein said. "He didn't have a microchip or collar to identify him or his owner."

Goldstein and her friend decided to place an online ad about the dog to find his owner. "You never know what could have happened," she said. "Maybe he was abducted or thrown away as revenge for a divorce or something. I've seen it all!"

Local news found out about the story and soon it was even on a national news website. In some of the accounts, her phone number was published.

"My mom called me from New York and said you're famous," Goldstein said. "I thought I was on the local Fox station website or something but it was national."

"I've been getting calls since then, nonstop," she said. "I must have got 500 calls from 10 different states. They all want to know what happened to the dog. Well, he's in a very happy, wonderful home with a brother dog to hang out with."

Goldstein's friend adopted the Beagle, who doesn't have a name yet.
