Lifetime Bikes - Loganville Ford Team Tackle Tribble Mill Taco Stand Classic

Lance Cross Comes in Second for Lifetime-Loganville Ford Race Team

Lifetime-Loganville Ford Race Team announced that Lance Cross, 3rd Place Champion for 2011 Clydesdale Division for Georgia, won 2nd place for the Tribble Mill Taco Stand Classic event held Saturday February 18th, 2012.  The Taco Stand Classic was the season opener for the Chain Buster 6/9 Hour Endurance Mountain Bike 2012 series..

The event was held at Tribble Mill Park, in Lawrenceville GA on 2/18/2012. Lance Cross riding for Lifetime-Loganville Ford won 2nd place in the Clydesdale division as he completed 6 laps (48 miles) in 5 hours and 38 minutes.  Lance started fast with a 48 min lap time in order to avoid the common first lap wrecks that can cost valuable time.  He then settled in to a 56 minute average lap time and stayed consistent throughout stopping in the pit area only to grab on new water bottle and a pack of energy food.  Lance was running in 3rd place for most of the race until he caught the then 2nd place rider on the second to last climb.  Lance rode on his wheel down the descent and made a difficult and fast low to high pass on wet roots on a bank of a creek bed.  He then pulled away with an aggressive pace up the last 2 mile climb and secured his 2nd place.

Lance finished 3rd overall in the series Clydesdale Division last year and is off to a great start to improve upon that for the 2012 season.  Mountain biking is a sport which consists of riding bicycles off-road, often over rough terrain, using specially adapted mountain bikes. Mountain bikes share similarities with other bikes, but incorporate features designed to enhance durability and performance in rough terrain.

Mountain biking can generally be broken down into multiple categories: cross country (XC), trail riding, all mountain, downhill, freeride, dirt jumping and trials. The vast majority of mountain biking falls into the recreational XC, and Trail Riding categories.

This individual sport requires endurance, core strength and balance, bike handling skills, and self-reliance. XC type mountain biking generally requires a different range of skills and a higher level of fitness than other types of mountain biking. Advanced riders pursue steep technical ascents and descents and, in the case of freeriding, downhilling, and dirt jumping, aerial maneuvers off of specially constructed jumps and ramps.
