Archer High's Valedictorian, Salutatorian

Congratulations to Melissa Thomas and Caitlin Pingel.

Congratulations to Archer High's Valedictorian and Salutatorian!

The title of valedictorian is normally given to the student with the highest GPA, and salutatorian is given to the student with the second-highest GPA. 

Valedictorian
Melissa Thomas, daughter of Mike and Sandi Thomas, will attend the University of Georgia.  Her intended major is nursing, and she plans to pursue a career in pediatric oncology at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.  She also hopes to become a nurse practitioner.

She has received or been offered the Maxxis International USA scholarship and a $2,000 scholarship to Georgia College and State University.  Thomas was the recipient of the Hugh O'Brien Youth Leadership Award, Scholar's Athlete, is an Honor Graduate, and is the first chair violinist.  She received a University of Georgia certificate of merit, the volleyball Tiger Award and the AP Scholar Award.   

School activities include the National Honor Society, Beta Club, Tigers of Distinction, Peer Leadership, Philharmonic Orchestra, volleyball, basketball, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), and BEST Club.

Each Sunday she volunteers for Relay for Life, performs community service at Streetwise, is involved in local church activities, special education programs at Harbins Elementary School, tutoring.

Salutatorian
Caitlin Pingel, daughter of Jill Brown, will attend the University of Georgia. She plans to pursue a career as Bilingual Speech Pathologist, specializing in deaf and autistic children and their families.

She has received or been offered the Maxxis scholarship.  She is a Governors Honors program finalist for Spanish, AP Scholar, and Honor graduate.

Pingel is a member of the Beta Club, Future Educators of America and the National Spanish Honor Society.

She is the assistant pre-k teacher at Primrose School.
