Are You Ready For Some Football?

Today is the first day high school football can officially start and, according to Mike Emery, Gwinnett County Public Schools’ athletic director, local high schools are already getting in on the action.

Football players from all three GCPS schools serving the and areas will be on the field today to get ready for the games scheduled to begin in less than three weeks. Information on the practice and scrimmage game schedules for Grayson, Archer and South Gwinnett high schools is posted on the school websites. 

The are the first to play, kicking off in a home game against the Lowndes County Vikings Aug. 19. The team’s away game against MLK on Sept. 1 will be televised on WSBTV Channel 2’s new Thursday night football specials. The Comets also have the opportunity for a Georgia Dome game against the Central Gwinnett Black Nights Sept. 17. Check here for the full practice and scrimmage game schedule.

The play their first game at the Georgia Dome Aug. 20 against the Kell Longhorns. They then play the Archer Tigers at Archer Sept. 9 before coming home for their first home game against the Berkmar Patriots Sept. 16. Check here for the full practice and scrimmage game schedule.

The play their first game away against the Duluth Wildcats Aug. 26. They play the next two games at home – Sept. 2 against the Mountainview Bears and Sept. 9 against the Grayson Rams. Check here for the full practice and scrimmage game schedule.
