Baseball Training Facility in Loganville Offers Skill Training for Student Athletes
Georgia Sports Center Is also open to the public with memberships that offer use of the batting cages as well as individual coaching.
Student athletes with a passion for baseball who may be looking to up their game over the summer need look no further than Georgia Sports Center in Loganville with the equipment and people to help.
Scott Ward, coach of a travel baseball team, and a few other partners now have an indoor baseball training facility on Karlee Boulevard in Loganville. The building houses 6,000 square feet under turf, 1,500 square feet under strength training equipment, eight batting cages and state-of-the-art pitching equipment.
Ward said the goal of Georgia Sports Center is to improve the quality of youth baseball in the area.

“I’ve had a travel ball program since June 2005, but I’m from Florida originally and when I moved here I found there was a lack of training for the youth, especially skill training,” Ward said.
Georgia Sports Center is offering baseball camps over the summer and Ward said he would like to get the word out that the facility is also open to the public.

“We have memberships for as low as $40 a month for someone to come here for 30 minutes every day and use the batting cages,” Ward said. “I don’t think people know that it isn’t just a private facility.”
Ward said for $100 and $150 there are other membership opportunities that also include use of some of the state-of-the-art equipment as well as some skill training. The pitching machine is one that can be programmed to throw a variety of different pitches simulating real game conditions. The floor can be opened up for other training sessions, such as sprinting or dodgeball games, or sectioned off for individual batting cages.
“The netting system we have is unique, we brought it in from the northeast and it’s on pulleys so we can pull it back if we need the room,” Ward said.
Although Georgia Sports Center is located in Loganville, Ward said students come from the surrounding area to make use of the training facility.
“Loganville was a good central location, but we have students who come from Covington, Conyers, Snellville, Winder, Dacula – even Duluth,” Ward said, adding they have students as young as 6 or 7 right up to some who train in the facility over their summer break from college.
“Our focus is preparing that athlete for the next level, be it from rec ball to a travel team, from middle school to high school or from high school to college,” Ward said.
Information on the camps, memberships and the equipment available at Georgia Sports Center is available on the website.
