Charges To Be Filed Against High School Player In LCA Beating Incident

A Northside Christian Academy football player faces charges of misdemeanor battery after he allegedly beat a Loganville Christian Academy player during Friday night's game.

Walton County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Bruce Wright confirmed Thursday that charges of misdemeanor battery are being filed against Adam Chumley, 17, of Acworth, a Northside Christian Academy player who allegedly beat a football player during Friday’s game.

Wright said authorities are talking with Chumley's family, and it is expected that the teen will turn himself in to Walton County authorities before the end of today. He said it was a joint decision between authorities and the family of the 14-year-old to file the charges.

According to published reports, the LCA football player, Jarett Briscoe, 14, suffered a concussion Friday after being beaten with his own helmet during the game against Northside. Walton Tribune reported that LCA CFO Doug Monda said Briscoe was dizzy and at times nauseous over the weekend, but the doctor said he would be alright. LCA’s athletic director Andre King confirmed Tuesday the player was doing well.
