Dog Killed, Woods Set Ablaze in Loganville Fire

The blaze also set fire to about four acres of nearby woods.

LOGANVILLE, GA — A weekend house fire in Loganville claimed the life of a family pet, did serious damage to the home and set the surrounding woods ablaze, fire officials say.

The fire, at 4829 Center Hill Church Rd., started at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

Walton County Fire Rescue units arrived to find the home's garage, and a car parked inside it, on fire, with flames spreading to the rest of the house.

It spread into the attack, causing severe damage there, officials said.

The home was not occupied at the time of the blaze, but there were several dogs there.

Several escaped, but one of the animals was declared dead.

A forestry unit was called in to dig a fire break around a blaze that burned about four acres of woods, fire officials said.

The cause of the blaze was still unknown Monday.
