Fire Destroys Loganville Home

Flames were so hot that siding on two neighboring houses melted, investigators say.

LOGANVILLE, GA -- Investigators are looking for what caused a fire Thursday morning that destroyed a home in Loganville and burned so hot it damaged two neighboring houses.

Gwinnett County firefighters responded to multiple calls reporting a house fire in the 3900 block of Pine Village Place SE in unincorporated Loganville.

Crews arrived shortly before 11 a.m. to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the garage and a bonus room of the single-story wood frame house. A car inside the garage also was on fire, according to a news release.

Firefighters entered the home with hoses, but were forced to back out as flames caused the home’s roof to collapse in the center of the house. “Radiant heat” from the fire burned so hot that it caused significant melting to siding on houses to either side of it and damaged an SUV that was in the driveway.

Firefighters ultimately were able to bring the fire under control by 11:33 a.m.
