Friday Night Lights: Sept. 16

Plenty of action this week around the area as high school football season swings into high gear.

Fall is in the air, and football season is in full swing as area teams take to the field tonight.

The host Madison County High tonight. The Devils are coming home following a 14-35 loss last week at the hands of the Heritige Patriots. The team is now 1 and 1 for the season. They face a challenge from the 2 and 1 Madison High team. Next week they will host Salem High.

The head to Carnesville to face 0-2 Franklin County High School. The Warriors did not play last week but won their home opener the week before by a score of 37-0 against the Jackson County Panthers, leveling their record to 1 -1. Head Coach Orlando Soto rates Franklin County as formidable opponents, but says his team is up to the challenge.
"We are continuing to develop our offense and defense this week," he said." We're nowhere near where we want to be, but we're getting there. Franklin County can beat us if we show up not ready. But we will be ready."
Next week the Warriors will take the road north again to face North Hall in Gainesville.

look to extend their undefeated season to four games tonight. The red hot Rams host the 1-2 Bermar Patriots, on the heels of last week's 34-7 win over Archer. Grayson is ranked #3 in the state in some polls and are looking to maintain their high ranking status. Next week they will travel across the county to face the Shiloh Generals.

The head to Snellville tonight to face the Brookwood Broncos. Archer is coming off the loss to the Rams at home last week. The Tigers and the Broncos share a season record of one win and two losses, so they will be fighting tonight to even up their record with a victory. Next week Archer heads to Berkmar.

will play in the Georgia Dome on Saturday morning, facing a strong Central Gwinnett Knights team. The Comets are off to a rough start with an 0-3 record so far this season. Two of those losses came at the hands of high ranking non-conference teams, and last week they fell to Shiloh by a score of 19-28. Tomorrow doesn't look to be any easier as the Knights have won each of their three games this season with some very lopsided final scores. Next week the Comets will play Parkview at home.

The Monroe Area Purple Hurricaines will host Lumpkin County tonight. The 'Caines are even with a 1 and 1 record so far, and are fresh off last week's bye. The Lunkin County Indians are undefeated this season. Next week, MAHS will head to Gainesville to face Chestate High.

will also be heading north this weekend to square off with Horizion Christian in Cumming. The Lions are the team to beat in their division, winning all four of their regular season games thus far with commanding leads. Included in those victories was last week's 19-0 victory over New Creations Christian Acedemy in McDonough. Tonight looks to be no different, as Horizion has an abridged season of just four games, and tonight represents their season opener. Last season they had won only once.

does not play this week. Next week the Cougars will head across town to face the LCA Lions.
