Gala Raises Money for Grayson Schools
Grayson Cluster Schools Foundation hosts annual gala at Summit Chase Country Club.
The room was full of Grayson educators along with city, county and state administrators who gathered for an evening of food, art, jewelry and wine – raising around $3000 for the Grayson Cluster Schools Foundation.
The result of the fundraising is programs which fulfill “out of the box” learning opportunities at all of Grayson’s schools.
“The GCSF is committed to working for the cluster as a whole,” said Joan Miller, president of the foundation. “Last year, the principals pooled their grant requests by designing an initiative for accelerated programs throughout the cluster.”

In the 2010-11 school year, the GCSF awarded a $15,000 grant towards an accelerated math program. The program serves the students who are on track to go beyond average but are not in FOCUS, PROBE or AP classes.
Certification is required at all grade levels to teach these classes; the grant through GCSF enables funding for teacher certification.

“Each year, another core subject will be added to the Accelerated Initiative,” Miller said.
Regency Fine Art provided a wide array of art to fulfill the decorating and artistic tastes of the participants. Van Adams Jewelers, long-time supporters of the GCSF, once again brought jewelry to provide a silent auction for patrons of the gala.
Miller also gave high praise to Don Britt and Charlene Adams of Summit Chase for their support of all the Gwinnett School clusters in the South end of the county.
“We shop, pray, and play sports together – and against each other – but at the end of the day we are all one large community,” she said. “We are proud to support our local schools whether it be Grayson, Brookwood, South, or Archer. We all live together in the same Community.”
