Georgia FFA Members Show 'Infinite Potential'

Loganville High School FFA members named Gold National Chapter for third consecutive year.

At the 83rd Georgia FFA Convention April 28-30 in Macon, Loganville High School FFA was named a Gold National Chapter for the third consecutive year and will now move on to be judged at the national level. The chapter received an award for 100-percent membership during the10-11 school year. FFA member Courtney Boone received her state FFA degree and Samuel Peraza was selected to serve on the Courtesy Corps while at the convention. He and Casey Kimery served as official delegates from LHS FFA.

This year’s convention, themed “Infinite Potential,” was highlighted by numerous award presentations, state competition in Career Development Events (CDE), community service projects, official delegate business, a Career Show, stellar FFA talent, powerful motivational speakers and a concert featuring the James Otto Band. More than 3,200 members, advisors, sponsors and guests were in attendance to support the 260 local middle and high school FFA chapters from across the state.

The Convention officially began on Thursday, April 28, with a 60-vendor Career Show, talent auditions and interviews for Star and proficiency award finalists. Also on Thursday, thousands of FFA members lived up to the fourth line of the FFA motto, “living to serve,” by participating in some form of community service activity. FFA members collected more than 3,000 cans of food to be donated to the Middle Georgia Community Food Bank.

The first official delegate business session was conducted on Friday afternoon, in the Centrplex arena. Each chapter present selected two students to represent them in official delegate business. The delegates approved a list of 517 FFA members nominated to receive the State FFA Degree in 2010, heard and approved the 2011 Convention Committee report and voted for members of the 2011-2012 state FFA officer team.
