Gwinnett MLK Day Parade, Program Held By United Ebony Society

Gwinnett County will celebrate the life of Martin Luther King Jr. with the United Ebony Society's annual parade and program Jan. 20.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — Gwinnett County will celebrate the life and work of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., with the United Ebony Society’s annual parade and program. With a theme of “The Time is Always Right to Do What is Right,” the celebration on Monday, Jan. 20, will include a short program that starts at 11 a.m., a parade, a community health fair, performances by students, and a display area with artwork of Gwinnett students.

The Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center at 75 Langley Drive in Lawrenceville will be the starting point for the parade, which will move down Lawrenceville Highway and end at Moore Middle School, Lawrenceville Highway.

Lauren Seroyer, a Peachtree Ridge High School graduate who attends Louisiana State University, will serve as the parade marshal. Seroyer, with her twin brother, Steven, founded CARE Closets in high schools across the county to provide food and toiletries to young people in need in a confidential setting.

There will be a brief program at 11 a.m. on Langley Drive in front of the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center, 75 Langley Drive in Lawrenceville.

The parade line-up will start at 11:20 a.m. The parade will begin on the Lawrenceville Highway route at noon.

Parade Details

Transportation and Parking: There will be no van or bus service in the morning. The service will be available from 2 to 4 p.m. only. The three locations available for parking are as follows:

  • Moore Middle School (limited parking) -1221 Lawrenceville Highway (Hwy. 29). Most parking spaces are reserved for vendors and organizations with reserved parking passes only.
  • Central Gwinnett High School – 564 W Crogan St. (Hwy. 29)
  • First United Methodist Church of Lawrenceville – 395 W Crogan St.(corner of Hwy. 29 and Langley Drive).
    • Please note Crogan Street is the same as Hwy. 29/Lawrenceville Hwy.
  • No parking at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center
  • Limited transportation will only be provided in the afternoon starting from Moore Middle School at 2 p.m to Central Gwinnett High School and First United Methodist Church of Lawrenceville.
