HounddogRadio.net To Have One Last Birthday Bash Sunday

The Internet Radio Station will be signing out from the Loganville area and relocating to Savannah.

Fans of Hounddogradio.net, a local Internet radio station that has been broadcasting from Loganville for the past four years, might want to get in on the birthday bash Sunday – it will be the last opportunity to do so.

“The station is in the process of relocating to Savannah,” said Frank Coon, the name behind Hounddogradio.net and a familiar face around Loganville. “Our birthday bash - 11-year-birthday - will start at 2 p.m. here at the station and will run till midnight.”

Coon and his wife, Cathy, who are both blind, have been operating HounddogRadio.net for 11 years, the last four of them from their home in the Huntington Ridge subdivision in Loganville.

“I must say, after everything the station has been through I did not think I would make 10, let alone 11,” Coon said.

The Internet radio station almost had to close down about 18 months ago when the economy tanked, leaving Coon having to find an additional $400 a month in operating costs. But friends of the radio station, some of them in other countries, came through and he was able to stay on the air. Coon has been a familiar sight at many events around Loganville, broadcasting live from events such as the Autumn Heritage Festival as well as many charity events. The Internet radio station, which plays a variety of different music genres, has been instrumental in getting local singer, songwriters heard around the world. The station has many listeners overseas in Europe as well as troops serving in the Middle East. Some local artists who got their start on Hounddog Radio can now be heard in the mainstream music arenas, such as Zac Brown of the Zac Brown Band.

Coon said for this last birthday bash he is inviting any artist who wants to swing by his basement Internet radio station to stop in and play on the air.

“They are welcome. This is their chance to show their stuff,” he said.
