It's Never Too Early To Start Looking Towards The Future
Rising seventh and eighth-graders invade the halls at Grayson Tech for a week of exploring careers in technology.
For middle school students who already know what they want to “be” when they grow up, and for some who just wanted to try on a different kind of camp, the Grayson Technical Program’s Summer Career Camp gave a glimpse into the possibilities of the future. More than 120 middle school students from across Gwinnett County attended the camp to learn a little science, a little robotics, a little virtual manipulation and even a little music.
Half-day classes in Digital Media and Design and full-day classes in Robotics were the most sought after camp offerings, but those who spent their days in Law Enforcement, Culinary Arts, Bio-Science, Sports Medicine and Music Technology also exhibited big smiles of satisfaction and fun.
In addition to class instructors, 20 Grayson Tech alumni returned as camp counselors.

“They have been the best part of the camp, as they serve as teachers and role models for the rising seventh and eighth-graders,” said Jennifer Fero, assistant principal.
Grayson’s Technical program is available for juniors and seniors throughout Gwinnett County, but Grayson's Tech’s recruiter said that students who are focused on particular fields will better benefit on establishing a curriculum in their ninth and 10th grade years to fulfill and make the most of the credits available through the upgraded program approved by the state of Georgia. The program allows for students in the 11th and 12th grades to receive one academic and two elective credits at Grayson Tech; the balance of the credits are achieved at the students “home” high school.
