is one of 10 schools selected as a stop on this year’s Bus Trip Across Georgia by the Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education.

In a press release, the organization announced the schools marked for a stop on the 2012 Bus Trip. The theme this year, the 20th annual Bus Trip, is “Georgia’s Public Schools: Using Technology, Creating Pathways for Student Success.” LHS is one of the schools that will be visited during a 2-day bus trip that will occur either between Oct. 22- 23 or Oct. 29-30.

This annual event is designed to showcase achieving schools. Officials with the Partnership said the 2012 trip will focus on schools in the northern part of the state. Last year focused on mid- eastern and south-eastern Georgia.

“Our 2012 schools will provide multiple examples of how technology is being used to maximize learning and increase student achievement,” said Dr. Stephen Dolinger, president of the Partnership. “We both celebrate achievement of these winning schools and showcase their exciting education ideas to the influencers who join us from all over the state.”

This year’s event will be undertaken in two 2-day trips, instead of one 3- day trip. Exact dates for each school still have to be determined and will be announced later this summer. There will also be an opportunity to participate as a rider or a local visitor to a particular site.
