LHS Recognized for Achievement in AP Coursework Participation

LHS was one of 367 schools statewide to receive this honor.

was one of the Georgia schools recognized last week for achievement in Advanced Placement coursework participation. In total, 367 schools statewide received this honor.

“Georgia has much to be proud of when it comes to the success of Advanced Placement. Much of this success can be attributed to the dedication to rigor and excellence at each of our AP Honor Schools,”  state Superintendent of Schools Dr. John Barge said in a released statement.

spokesperson Kim Embry said LHS was named as both an AP Stem School and AP Steam Achievement School.

AP STEM SCHOOLS: Schools with students testing in at least two (2) AP math courses and two (2) AP science courses (AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Statistics, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Environmental Science, AP Physics B, AP Physics C, AP Computer Science)

AP STEM ACHIEVEMENT SCHOOLS: Schools with students testing in at least 2 AP math courses and 2 AP science courses and at least 40% of the exam scores on AP math and AP science exams earning scores of three (3) or higher.

Embry said wasn’t one of the schools recognized this year.

“This is the first year they have had a complete class of seniors and more AP offerings,” Embry said, adding that things are looking good for next year though.
