Local FFA Members Participate in Extemporaneous Public Speaking Competition

Two Loganville High School students participate in FFA competition.

Loganville High School students Hailey Hitchcock and Austin Kennedy participated in the FFA Extemporaneous Speaking Run-Off. Hitchcock will proceed to the area competition held on November 10th at Madison County Public School.

Judges for the event included Mrs. Kelly Tompkins, Environmental Science teacher, and Mrs. Teresa Ibouhouten, World Literature teacher. The competition is designed to recognize “outstanding FFA members for the ability to prepare and present a factual speech on a specific agricultural in a well thought out and logical manner,” according to Abby Needham, LHS's FFA advisor.

Students have 30 minutes to prepare a four to six minute minute speech, and must also respond to questions from the judges. The event is one of many educational activities sponsored by the FFA where members have the opportunity to practice the lessons taught in agricultural education classes.
