Loganville, Grayson Top Truck Drivers In Georgia

A Loganville and a Grayson driver each took top honors in Georgia's professional truck driver championships and now head to Florida to take on the nation.

It appears that some of the best professional truck drivers in the state are from the local area with both Loganville and Grayson taking top honors in the Georgia Truck Driving Championships recently. Along with a neighbor from Winder, they now head to Florida to take on the rest of the nation.

Tim Vogt, of , a driver for Con-Way Frieght, took top honors in the Tankers division and Todd Hester of , who drives for UPS, won in the Flatbed section. Nearby in Winder, Jerry Roberts of YRC won in the Twins division.

According to a press release from PR Newswire, all three will now join about 400 drivers from all 50 states in Orlando, Fla. from Aug. 9 – 13 for the American Trucking Associations’ National Truck Driving Championships. Saturday night, one contestant will qualify as the 2011 National Grand Champion Truck Driver.

"The Truck Driving Championships represent the culmination of the industry's passion and dedication to safety," said Georgia Motor Trucking Association, Inc. President and CEO Edward B. Crowell in a press release. "I congratulate all the contestants and I hope Georgia roots for our drivers as they move on to Nationals in Orlando."
