Loganville Restaurant Closed After Failed Health Inspection

Black mold in the ice machine, faulty coolers and management's lack of health knowledge led to the shutdown.

LOGANVILLE, GA — A Thai restaurant in Loganville has had its doors shut after failing a health inspection on Thursday.

Thai Taste, at 1009 Hwy. 78, scored a failing 65/U on the inspection.

But it was repeated problems at the restaurant that led health inspectors to temporarily pull its license.

"The food service permit has been suspended due to inadequate refrigeration ... and 3 consecutive repeat violations on a routine inspection for management knowledge of the employee health policy," the inspection report reads. "All food service must cease. If food operation is observed while the permit is suspended, a citation may be issued."

Among the problems cited during Thursday's inspection was "a black, mold-like substance" in the restaurant's ice maker and raw beef and chicken being stored above ready-to-eat food like peppers and curry.

Several food items were being stored at the wrong temperatures and none of the restaurant's coolers, for food storage, were as cool as they are supposed to be.

According to the report, a follow up inspection at Thai Taste will happen in the next 10 days. If problems are fixed, the restaurant's permit could be reinstated.

Thai Taste had scored an 83/B on its most recent inspection in June and a 90/A during an inspection last September.
