Unregistered, Missing Sex Offender Sought By Police

An unregistered sex offender with mental health conditions was released from jail and his family has not heard from him.

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — Gwinnett County Police detectives are searching for an unregistered sex offender with a mental condition who was released from jail May 17 but his family never heard from him.

Andrew Wesley Dix Jr., 42, was reported missing by his family and they say he has some mental health conditions that may cause him to act erratically, according to police. Dix also has an outstanding warrant for failure to register as a sex offender upon his release.

Anyone encountering Dix is asked to call 911. Anyone with information on Dix’s whereabouts should contact GCPD detectives at 770-513-5300. To remain anonymous, tipsters should contact Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477) or visit www.crimestoppersatlanta.org. Crime Stoppers tipsters can receive up to $2,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case. Case Number: 18-046450
