New Shane's Rib Shack Opens Monday In Gwinnett

GRAYSON, GA — Gwinnett County residents will have a new place to get their barbecue fix, starting Monday.

Georgia-based Shane's Rib Shack is opening a location in Grayson. The new restaurant, which opens at 11 a.m., is at 1911 Grayson Hwy. in the Kroger shopping center.

The Grayson restaurant will be the 47th location for the chain, which was founded in McDonough. Shane Thompson opened the first Shane's Rib Shack there in 2002.

Shane's serves traditional barbecue items like pulled pork sandwiches, ribs, smoked chicken and Brunswick stew, as well as its own specialties like the Shack Potato (a baked potato stuffed with barbecue and other items) and a BBQ Pork Salad.

Shane's still serves sauce that's based on a recipe by Thompson's grandfather, Dewey "Big Dad" Brown. Brown was a football player who played for Clemson and the professional L.A. Rangers before serving in the military during World War II.

The restaurant will be open seven days a week, from 11 a.m.-9 p.m.
