Sheriff: Go To The Rock Quarry, Get A Ticket

The swimming hole is on private property, the Walton County Sheriff's Office notes.

LOGANVILLE, GA -- Swimming and sunning at the rock quarry may be a summertime tradition for some in Loganville.

But, it's also illegal.

And in a Facebook post Tuesday morning, the Walton County Sheriff's Office made it clear they're keeping an eye out for people sneaking onto the private property, in the Anslee Lakes subdivision.

"Thirty-three people can tell you all about how private it is and can show you the ticket they received," the sheriff's office said in the post. "Thirty-three tickets just last week."

The post asks people to stay away from the quarry area unless they are invited.

"By the way, don't post about how we are just trying to make money. We don't get the money," it continues. "And please don't talk about how the rock quarry is a right of passage. It's somebody's backyard."

Several residents who commented on the post thanked the sheriff's office for its efforts keeping teens and others away from the quarry.

"It is so dangerous..... ," wrote one commenter. "Walton Co. Should build a water park somewhere. Maybe that will keep the hoodlums from going to the rock quarry 'to cool off' and it would be awesome for friends and families!!"
