The watch is in effect until 10 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for a large area of east Georgia until 10 p.m., according to the National Wearther Service in Peachtree Corners.
Walton County is on the western edge of the watch area, which extends into South Carolina.
The weather service severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds, locally heavy rainfall and dangerous lightning.

The National Weather Service has issued a Significant Weather Advisory for strong thunderstorms moving through the area.
The advisory is in effect until 3:30 p.m for many area in eastern metro Atlanta, including Gwinnett and Walton counties.
Wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph and frequent lightning have been reported.
Locations in the advisory area include Dacula, Buford, Grayson, Loganville and nearby communities.
