Specialist Surgeons Join Hospital, Set Up Loganville Office

Surgeons Dr. Angelina Postoev and Dr. Chris Ibikunle have joined the active staff at Walton Regional Medical Center and opened a satellite office in Loganville.

Dr. Angelina Postoev and Dr. Chris Ibikunle, both specialist surgeons with a private practice in , are two of the latest additions to the active medical staff at Posoev and Ibikunle opened Georgia SurgiCare, LLC at 3869 Highway 81 south in Loganville Aug. 1.

“We are delighted to have Dr. Postoev and Dr. Ibikunle to join our medical staff at Walton Regional. Having completed training at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, their skills are a great addition to the healthcare services available in Loganville,” said WRMC CEO JT Barnhart.

Postoev specializes in colorectal surgery and breast surgery and performs Advanced Laparoscopy and endoscopy. Ibikunle specializes in Minimally Invasive Surgery (Advanced Laparoscopy and Thoracoscopy), Surgical Oncology, Surgical Endoscopy, Endocrine surgery, Vascular Surgery/Access, Surgical Critical Care/Acute Care/Trauma.

Both doctors relocated from Cleveland, Ohio, for “the small-town feel” of Walton County.

“And we like the weather here,” Ibikunle said, adding he felt it was a great area to raise children. “We believe it’s not just the large cities that deserve world-class care and the advantages of cutting edge technology. We feel an obligation to bring that same care to an area like this. I heard that some people here have to travel more than 20 miles get this type of care.”

Ibikunle said although it is possible when the that they will open an office on the campus to be closer to hospitalized patients, they intend to maintain a satellite office in Loganville.

“There are procedures we can do here. We have the equipment and can do some same-day procedures such as breast and thyroid biopsies,” he said.

Ibikunle joins the WRMC staff after most recently serving as an assistant professor of surgery for Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine/Case Western Reserve University and a staff surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio in the Digestive Disease Institute.  He completed his medical school degree at the Russian State Medical University in Moscow, Russia, an internship in General Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Health System, and his residency at the Cleveland Clinic Health System. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery.

Postoev, who was actually born in Russia but grew up in the U.S., just completed a fellowship in Surgical Critical Care at The Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. She completed her residency in General Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. Her medical degree is from the Ross University School of Medicine and her undergraduate degree in biology is from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. Postoev is board certified by the American Board of Surgery.

Postoev’s sister, Anastasia, is a medical student and spent her summer working in the Loganville office and helping the doctors get moved in.
