Starling Kindergarten Community Day

The kindergarten hall at Starling Elementary was transformed into a mini community today. Here's a look at all the fun.

Kindergarten students at Starling Elementary have been hard at work planning for Community Day, an event where kindergarten classrooms in the school are transformed into businesses found in a community.

Among the classroom businesses were a sweet shop, a nail salon, Waffle House and a disco.

The students took turns being workers and shoppers, and purchases were made with a baggie of twenty dimes sent from home.

Each student held a job in the classroom's business, and the children learned valuable lessons about how a community functions, money management and working with the public.
