Tip-Off and Touchdown Clubs Host Taste of Archer

Archer High proves a great venue for introducing the community to some of the area's favorite food experiences!

As fundraisers go, there’s the traditional wrapping paper, cookie dough and magazine opportunities and an occasional interesting venture that includes wreaths and flowers. The Tip Off and Touchdown Clubs at , however, hosted their second annual Taste of Archer on May 14 and the community responded with enthusiasm.

Darrell Bryant, President of the Archer Touchdown Club, projected that although the 2000 tickets sold by team members were less than last year’s pre-sales, the final tally from the door sales would put them around the same as last year’s $20,000.

“The proceeds will go towards facility improvements, new equipment and uniform needs (for all of the basketball and football teams),” he said. “Most of the work putting the event together was done by the Tip Off Club’s Pam Wyton and the Touchdown Club’s Tammy Bryant."

“Last year we did not know what to expect and some of our food vendors ran out before the end,” she said. “This year they had a better feel for the crowds and everyone is confident we will be able to accommodate all the ticket sales.”

With a wide array of offerings including freshly grilled steaks, locally favorite pizza by the slice, barbecue with a kick, and mini cupcakes, the many “tastes” of the Archer district were well represented.

Archer High School is in its second year of operation and continues to establish competitive athletic programs due to the coordinated efforts between a seasoned coaching staff and enthusiastic booster clubs.
