Walton Pre-K Classes Full But Wait List Available

Registration was in February with a lottery-style drawing used when necessary.

As students begin preparations for the upcoming year, there are some little ones getting ready to head to school for the first time. However, if your Pre-K student hasn’t registered yet, there’s a strong possibility he or she won’t be one of them.

The Walton County Public School system is dependent on funding from Bright from the Start and runs two pre-K classes in each elementary school with 20 students in each class. Registration is held in February with a lottery-style drawing used for classes that are too full. Students who didn't make it into a class through the lottery are added to a waiting list for each school.

Kim Embry, spokesperson for the WCPS said the Pre-K classes for the schools are already full, but there is a waiting list for those who left it a little late.

“In a typical year we usually will place 15 – 25 students from the waiting lists across the district,” Embry said, adding, “Of course it can vary widely at individual schools from year to year.”

Most Loganville area elementary schools do already have a list established, but the number of students on those lists are not yet that high. These were the numbers on the waiting lists as at July 20:
