1 Injured, 1 In Custody In Sprayberry High Possible Stabbing

A student has been taken into custody after being accused of injuring another student in a possible stabbing at the Cobb County school.

MARIETTA, GA — A student is in custody after being accused of using a knife to injure another student Wednesday at Sprayberry High School, a Cobb County Schools district spokesperson said.

While school officials have not released how the knife was used, Atlanta News First reported the student was stabbed.

Parents were notified of the incident early Wednesday morning via an emailed letter from Sprayberry Principal Sara Fetterman. Patch has obtained a copy of the letter.

"This morning, our school dealt with an upsetting event when one of our students assaulted another, causing us to issue a code red. Our school is now on code green, and our school day will continue with heightened police presence, with a normal bus schedule and pickup time," Fetterman wrote in the letter.

She noted a suspect was in the custody of Cobb County Police, and added school safety is a priority for Sprayberry. The suspect was not identified.

A motive in the incident has not been revealed, and school officials said the student who was injured has been treated.
