14-Year-Old Girl Was Pimped In Cobb: Police

Two teens were among the three prostitutes being forced to work out of a hotel by two people who were arrested Wednesday, police say.

MARIETTA, GA — Girls as young as 14 years old were being forced to work as prostitutes out of a hotel in Marietta, according to police.

WSB-TV reports that two people were arrested Wednesday evening on charges that they ran a prostitution ring out of the Days Inn hotel on Northwest Parkway in Marietta. Brandon Myers and Jasmine Avery were arrested at the hotel around 6 p.m., police said.

According to the Marietta Police Department, the pair forced at least two girls and one woman to create ads on the website Backpage.com and use a texting app to talk to potential clients. An arrest warrant for the pair says two of the three prostitutes working for Myers and Avery were 17 and 14 years old.

Officers also found a handgun in the hotel room, police said.

According to Cobb County Jail records, Myers, of Smyrna, was booked early Thursday morning on charges that include pimping a minor, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, giving a false name to officers and probation violation. Avery, also of Smyrna, was booked on charges of keeping a place of prostitution and pimping.

Pimping a minor is a felony charge.

The hotel has a checkered history. In October, WSB reported on a sting there that led to the arrest of a man looking for sex with a 14-year-old girl. Neighbors say drug deals also are known to be conducted at the hotel.

"There’s definitely drug deals that go on, things like that — people I need to keep an eye on if I see them walking around," Logan Life, who works near the hotel, told the station.
