2 Injured In Series Of Weekend I-75 Crashes In Marietta

A Georgia Power bucket truck rolled over in the first crash while two people sustained injuries in an unrelated crash.

MARIETTA, GA — Two people were injured in a series of car crashes on Interstate 75 in Marietta over the weekend, including one person who had life-threatening injuries.

The first crash happened around 10:30 p.m. Saturday on I-75 southbound at South Marietta Parkway, where a Georgia Power bucket truck rolled. While authorities were responding to the crash, a driver distracted by the crash wrecked their car.

Police said there were no serious injuries in either accidents. However, multiple lanes were blocked for an extended period of time during the cleanup.

A few hours later, a crash happened around 3 a.m. Sunday on I-75 northbound at Delk Road.

Police said a Toyota Corolla driven by a 29-year-old Kennesaw man hit a Toyota Highlander carrying a 48-year-old Austell woman and a 49-year-old Austell man.

While the man was standing outside his car, it was hit by three other cars. The man was also hit by at least one of the cars, police said. He was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The woman was taken to Wellstar for minor injuries.
