3 Injured In 10-Vehicle Pileup On Cobb Interstate

A driver improperly changed lanes, resulting in the multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 south, authorities said.

MARIETTA — Three people were injured in a 10-vehicle pileup on Interstate 75 south Tuesday afternoon near Interstate 285 and Windy Hill Road, the Georgia State Patrol said.

The GSP said the crash involved three tractor-trailers and seven vehicles. A driver improperly changed lanes, resulting in the multi-vehicle crash, the GSP said.

Three people were taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital with non-threatening injuries, the GSP said.

Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services, which responded with Marietta Fire, extricated a person in critical condition from one of the vehicles, fire officials told Patch.

"Our response time and resources were great but could have been a bit faster if the public would assist by not taking up the emergency lanes," fire officials said.

The interstate was shut down for about three hours, the GSP said.
