3D Street Artists to Brighten up Marietta Square

This Labor Day Weekend artists will create 3D street paintings during "Chalk-it-Up" at Art in the Park.

Artists of all ages will "Chalk-it-Up!" Saturday, Sept. 1 during the 26th Annual Art in the Park Festival.

Participants will create dynamic chalk art works on sidewalk squares along Anderson Street, which is adjacent to the Marietta-Cobb Museum of Art and one block off the Marietta Square. Prizes awarded for all age groups.

For the first year the festival will host street artists Lori Escalera and Julie Kirk-Purcell. They will each create an amazing 3D street painting on Saturday, Sept. 1 and Sunday, Sept. 2 on Anderson Street, next to MCMA.

“Chalk-it-Up!” 2012 Rules and Specifications

Saturday, Sept. 1, 10:00 am- 2:00 pm.

  • Participants will create dynamic chalk art works on sidewalk squares along Anderson Street, which is adjacent to the Marietta-Cobb Museum of Art and one block off the Marietta Square.

Material Restrictions

  • One 30-count box of Sargent Art Sidewalk Chalk will be provided for each participant.
  • Participants may bring their own chalk, brushes and water. Chalk must be water-based.
  • We suggest purchasing Dixon Ticonderoga or Prang Freart Chalk. No other special paints, chalks or additives other than what is listed above may be used. ALL supplies must be presented at check-in for inspection.
  • Supplies are subject to random inspection throughout competition.

Space Assignments

Spaces (3ft square) are given out randomly on a first-come, first-serve basis. Some spaces may have cracks and color or texture variations. Spaces may be switched one time only as long as spaces are available.

Check-In and Registration

9:00-9:45 a.m. at The Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art, 30 Atlanta Street.

Grades Kindergarten – 2nd, 3rd – 5th, 6th - 8th, 9th – 12th, Artist/Adult (college age and up)

Prizes

1st Place: Each youth category $25 gift card & 1-Year Family Membership to Marietta Cobb Museum of Art ($65 value)

1st Place: Adult category: $50 gift card & 1-Year Family Membership to Marietta Cobb Museum of Art ($65 value)
