The Best Kept Secret in Marietta – “RC’s, Southern Cooking with a Twist”

Marietta, GA, (March 29, 2012): Renardo Lewis and Carlton Brandon have enjoyed cooking since they were in their young teens.  “The first meal I cooked at the age of twelve was some hotdogs.  It may not seem like much to other people, but I knew then that cooking is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life,” said Mr. Lewis.  Mr. Lewis and Mr. Brandon both knew they had a passion for the culinary arts when they met while attending Atlanta Technical College’s Culinary Arts Program.  During the first week of school, their instructor asked them to each stand and say where they wanted to be in the next five years.  Mr. Lewis stated, “I stood up and let the class know that I wanted to own a restaurant in the next five years.  That was in 2006.  It is 2012 and I feel so blessed that I have achieved my dream.”

Mr. Brandon had been catering for 10 years and even became a preferred vendor for the Atlanta Public School System.  “I knew since I was 17 years old that I had a love for cooking. Renardo and I were catering events together and we became well known for our barbecues. We both had the personal goal of opening our own restaurant so we decided that we should open one together.”

RC’s – Southern Cooking with a Twist, opened its doors in February 2012 and they have done so well, that their patrons often come in and purchase entire pans of their gourmet soul food.  Their menu includes their signature turkey wings, ribs, macaroni and cheese, collard greens, and the ultra famous “stuffing muffin” (cornbread dressing in the form of a muffin).  They also make sure to consider their more health conscience customers by offering a variety of salads, chicken salad wraps, pastas and their well-known salmon burgers.  “We only cook with butter and we use turkey meat to season our vegetables.” said Mr. Lewis.

RC’s – Southern Cooking with a Twist was recently awarded a certificate of appreciation for their meritorious service to the community of Carver Early College.  “Our goal has always been to provide good food to our community.” said Mr. Brandon.   “We provide a family friendly atmosphere with great food and great service.” said Mr. Lewis.  “We are a living testament to what hard work, dedication and determination can do for you.”
