Here are the top three stories today in Marietta:
- Traffic resumed as usual on Wednesday afternoon after a beam protecting Cobb County's historic bridge was struck by a truck. This is not the first or even the second time a truck has crashed in this area, as this specific juncture gets the best of many unfamiliar drivers ignoring the warning signs. Luckily no damage was done to the bridge in this accident, but a repair crew was sent to repair the beam. The driver will be receiving a citation and insurance bill to cover costs. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
- On Tuesday, officers responded to two car crashes within hours of each other on Roswell Road, totaling nearly 40 crashes at this location already this year. Roswell Road (highway I-20) is a heavily traveled road from Fulton County, Cobb County, and through Paulding County, so as expected, the road sees a significant amount of traffic daily. The speed limit is 45 mph, but drivers say it's not always followed. Cobb County officers will increase patrols and set up a radar to limit speeding and keep all drivers safe. (WSB Atlanta)
- On Wednesday, two women were arrested after attempting to steal nearly $3,000 worth of perfume from a Kohl's in Cobb County. Two women entered a fitting room with a bag full of perfume and later exited with an empty bag. Acworth officers inspected the security camera and the fitting room but found no products. Once the police vehicles arrived, the two suspects began to run to their vehicle, where they were stopped. In addition to the $2,875 worth of perfume, other stolen items were found in the vehicle.
