Arts Fest, Kids Theater, Tree Planting, Shopping

Gardening, theater, shopping and art—Marietta has a little bit of everything this weekend.

1. Expect over 30 local artists, craft makers and authors in addition to musical performances by The Emerson Drummers, The Hunger Valley Boys Blue Grass Band, Bert Reeves and others during the .

The festival is Saturday, Nov. 12 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Etowah Drive between Freyer Drive and Seminole Drive.

Sidewalk chalk, face paintings and exotic Nerdy Baby art education materials will be available all day for free kid fun. The event is sponsored by First Landmark Bank and .

2. presents Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. at the 's Jennie T. Anderson Theatre. Admission is $14.

Honk! is a musical adaptation of the Hans Christian Andersen story The Ugly Duckling, incorporating a message of tolerance. The musical features Ugly, a duckling who is rejected by everyone but his mother, Ida; a sly tomcat who wants to eat Ugly; and other barnyard creatures.

Performed by high school and middle school students, Honk! will deliver family fun to the young and the young at heart.

3. Volunteers of all ages are invited to help Marietta Tree Keepers plant trees at the YWCA, 48 Henderson St. SW.

Volunteers are asked to arrive at 8:30 a.m. Saturday to enjoy donuts and beverages before digging in to work. Dress appropriately for the weather. Tools will be provided, but volunteers are welcome to bring their favorite outdoor gloves and tools if they like.

4. The ' Green Thumb Gardening Series presents a "New Plant Cultivars" workshop on Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The workshop will be held at the and costs $30.

5. It's a Christmas Open House downtown Marietta on Friday night from 6 to 9 p.m. Marietta Square shops will stay open late for a holiday preview.
