Austell Apartment Fire Displaces Nearly 60

Fire officials said all 20 units were damaged, with many of them destroyed.

AUSTELL, GA — More than 50 people are displaced after 20 units in a Riverside Parkway apartment building suffered a fire late Thursday night, Cobb County fire officials said.

The well-involved fire began around 11:15 p.m. and was able to be controlled, according to Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services. Crews were on-scene Friday morning tending to small hotspots, fire officials said.

There were no injuries, and the cause of the fire is unknown, fire officials said. All units were damaged, with many destroyed; however, fire officials said all 58 residents were accounted for by apartment management and the American Red Cross.
