Are You Too Short?
When shopping for furniture you will see the size and scale is larger than in past years. I have guidelines to assist you in selecting new furniture, especially for shorter people!
It is exciting to be able to buy new furniture! There are so many fabric and leather colors to choose from when you are selecting furniture.
Selecting the style and color of a couch or chair is an important decision to make when you are looking for new living room, family room, keeping room or bedroom furniture. However, these options are not as important as comfort! When you sit on the couch or chair do you fall back in the seat? Are the cushions too deep?
If you are short, the new styles and designs in furniture might not be very comfortable for you. The cushions of couches and chairs have gotten larger and longer. The couches and chairs are a perfect fit for taller people, but what about the shorter people? They need to be able to buy new furniture that fits their body too!

I have the solution for you! At the furniture store measure the cushion area of the couch you have selected. The average size of the newly designed cushion is 27” in the area that you sit on. The average design for a shorter person to be comfortable is 22”.
If you fall in love with a couch and the cushion is too large for your comfort, ask them if it can be ordered with a smaller frame and smaller 22” cushion. Some furniture stores do not carry any furniture with a 22” cushion! The best thing to do is to call the furniture store before you go shopping. If they do not have any properly sized furniture in stock, ask them if they are able to order it for you. Calling the furniture store before you drive to the store will save you time, gas and disappointment if they do not have your “size” in stock.

Another way to find a couch or chair that you love and that “fits” you comfortably is to contact me. Notice the difference in cushion sizes. It is very important for you to purchase furniture that “fits” you properly. Your back will thank you for it!
