Cat Cafe Opens In Marietta

Fourteen cats had arrived at the Cobb County cafe earlier this week and all of them are available for adoption.

MARIETTA, GA — Love coffee and cats? If so, welcome to Meowietta!

That's the nickname being used by the folks behind Java Cats Cafe, which opens Friday in Marietta. Owned by Haydn Hilton, the spot will be Java Cats' second location after one on Memorial Drive in Atlanta was opened last March.

The Marietta location is at 85 Atlanta St. on Marietta Square.

The new location held a soft opening on Thursday for people who donated to a crowdfunding campaign or otherwise helped get the location open. Friday, the cafe opened at 7 a.m. Guests are encouraged to make a reservation, but walk-ins are allowed on a first come, first served basis.

Reservations are $10 or adults or $7 for kids younger than 12 and come with a complimentary drip coffee or loose-leaf tea for everyone in the party. Children's admission comes with a kid-sized hot chocolate, juice or fruit snack.

Crafted beverages are available for an additional $2.50.

According to a social media post, there were 14 cats at the Marietta shop as of Thursday. All the cats come from adoption agencies and are eligible for adoption.
