Cobb Deputy Dies After Being Found Unresponsive: Sheriff's Office
It is unknown how or where the deputy died Sunday.
DALLAS, GA — Cobb County Deputy Gregory Scott Smith, 58, died Sunday after being found unresponsive while jogging in Dallas, according to the Cobb County Sheriff's Office and an incident report Monday.
According to the report from the Paulding County Sheriff's Office, deputies and fire personnel responded around 7:30 p.m. to Principal Meridian Drive for a medical CPR call.
First responders attempted life-saving measures on Smith but were unsuccessful, according to the incident report. There was no evidence of physical trauma involved, according to the incident report.

Smith had been with the sheriff's office since 2008.
"We thank the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office and the Paulding County Fire/Rescue for trying to save his life," the Cobb sheriff's office said in a statement. "Please keep Deputy Smith's loved ones and the Cobb County Sheriff's Office in your thoughts and prayers."
