Cobb School Teacher Contracts Sent Out Early
Roughly 8,000 contracts went out to Cobb County teachers on Monday, earlier than they ever have before.

MARIETTA, GA — Nearly 8,000 contracts for Cobb County teachers and other employees for the 2018-19 school year have been sent out in what district officials say is the earliest the offers have ever been tendered.
In a news release, Cobb County schools Superintendent Chris Ragsdale said the contracts were sent out earlier than any school district in Georgia history and about a week earlier than they were sent out in Cobb County last year.
"The early issuance of contracts recognizes our outstanding teachers and leaders, allowing continued focus on student success," Ragsdale said. "Thank you to all our teachers for making the Cobb County School District the best place to teach, lead, and learn."

Sending the contracts out this early was an effort by the school district to secure the best teachers, improve teacher morale and begin its hiring process earlier.
Contracts were sent electronically to teachers on Monday — the second year that contracts went out that way. Doing so "speeds the process and saves an estimated $40,000 in time, printing, notarization and distribution costs," said deputy Superintendent John Adams.

More than 4,000 of the contracts sent out were signed the day they were issued, according to the school system.
