Cobb Schools Ink Deal With Libraries

Students in the Marietta and Cobb County systems will be able to access library resources using their student identification.

MARIETTA, GA — Cobb County school students can access county library resources using only their student IDs. And a new deal will keep that program going for at least the next two years.

The agreement, between the Cobb County School District, Marietta City Schools and the Cobb County Public Library System, means students no longer need an extra card to use library resources, either in person on online.

At a ceremony at Switzer Library in Marietta on Wednesday, officials from the systems inked an agreement to extend Libary PASS (Public Library Access for Student Success) for another two years. The program originally launched in January.

The memorandum was signed by Cobb Superintendent Chris Ragsdale, county commission Chairman Mike Boyce and Marietta schools Superintendent Grant Rivera.

Currently, more than 116,000 students in the Cobb school system alone are enrolled in the program.

"When we have partnerships like this, it shows that the focus in Cobb County is very high on prioritizing education," said Ragsdale. "It is very important to us to make sure that resources are available to not only students but also parents. To have partnerships like this with the library system is very important. All the resources that we can tap into, that our students and staff can tap into, benefit the goal of student success."
