Cobb's Walton High Has Georgia's 3rd Highest SAT Score
The Georgia Department of Education released the 2016 scores on Tuesday. Here are how Cobb's other schools performed.

Walton High School in Marietta had Georgia's 3rd highest SAT score in 2016, according to new Georgia Department of Education figures released on Tuesday.
Walton's score of 1730 tied the school with Johns Creek High in Fulton, which also reported a 1730 score.
The Gwinnett School of Math Science and Technology had the state's highest SAT score, 1870. Coming in second was Northview High, also in Fulton, with a score of 1810.

Walton High was Cobb's only school to finish in the top 10. The remaining top 10 schools came from Fulton, DeKalb and Muscogee counties, as well as Savannah.

Overall, the department said Georgia students increased their scores on every section of the traditional SAT in 2016. On the new SAT, a redesigned test with a different scoring system, Georgia students outperformed the national average, and ranked 36th in the nation.
A total of 69,922 students in the class of 2016 took the SAT (old or new) at least once. On the “old” SAT, Georgia’s class of 2016 recorded a mean composite score of 1459 – up nine points since 2015, when the mean score was 1450.
Some students in Georgia’s class of 2016 took the redesigned SAT, which scores students in evidence-based reading and writing and math. On the new SAT, Georgia students recorded a mean total score of 976 – outperforming the national mean of 972.
