More than 300 scam incidents cost victims $37,000.

Federal authorities arrested almost 50 people on Thursday and charged 34 others in a phone scam investigation that all started in Marietta.
A total of 342 scam indictments cost victims $37,000, according to the AJC.
In May 2013, a Marietta man reported a suspicious phone call to police. The caller posed as a Cobb Sheriff’s office employee and told the man a warrant had been issued for his arrest for missing jury duty. He gave the man the option of paying the fine over the phone or having police come to his house and arrest him.
