Gone with the Wind, Historic Homes and Markets Make for Great Saturday in Marietta

1. Local celebrations surrounding the 75th anniversary of Margaret Mitchell's Gone with the Wind continue today at the with an autograph session at 10 a.m., followed by a swap meet in the museum courtyard at 12:30 p.m.

From 3 to 5 p.m. at the ballroom of the, authors Anne Edwards, Marianne Walker, John Wiley and Susan Lindsley will discuss how Mitchell’s novel influenced them. The celebration concludes with “The Golden Age of Hollywood with Ann Rutherford” from 8 to 10 p.m. in the auditorium. The event, which costs $35, will feature Rutherford discussing her career, her experience in the Gone with the Wind movie and life during Hollywood’s Golden Age. Museum director Connie Sutherland and exhibit owner Chris Sullivan will lead the discussion.

2. Along with the Gone with the Wind swap meet, don't forget about the Marietta Square Farmers Market from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the north side of the square and the Marietta Artists Market that runs concurrently. A great time to shop and visit Historic Marietta Square!

3. Local historian/author will be available to sign copies of Marietta, the Gem City of Georgia: A Celebration of Its Homes – A Portrait of Its People during the Cobb Landmarks and Historical Society’s semi-annual membership meeting from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the . Folks who pre-ordered copies of the book or who wish to purchase on can do so from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. today or Saturday. The book also is on sale online. A first run of 2,000 copies were printed along with 175 special editions in honor of Marietta’s 175^th anniversary.

4. And for your final stop on the Magical Marietta History Tour, consider dropping in on the Georgia Antiquarian Booksellers Association's  Rare and Antique Book Fair in Hudgins Hall of the Cobb Civic Center.
