High Speed Chase Ends in Marietta, Driver Escapes

Police are advising Marietta residents to take extra safety precautions following the escape of a man who led police on a high speed chase on Thursday night.

According to WSB-TV, the chase began in Butts County and ended at the Canton Road exit of Interstate 75 north, around 70 miles away. Police say the man was driving with his headlights off and topped speeds of 125 mph. After the chase ended, the driver fled on foot and got away, but a passenger remained inside the car and was taken into custody. Police also found a large quantity of marijuana inside.

Authorities have a scant description of the suspect, saying only that he was dressed in all black.
