Houston Shooter May Have Been Marietta-Bound

A man who shot two Houston police officers and opened fire on a third before taking his own life was wanted in connection with a shooting in California and may have been on his way to Marietta, police told Houston’s KPRC-TV.

 The shooter, identified as Jesse Brown, started a shootout at the downtown Greyhound station Saturday. Houston police said Brown, 20, used two semiautomatic handguns, and one of them was reported as stolen in a Houston burglary case from November 2010.

Police said Brown had a previous address in San Francisco County and had family in Marietta. Officials said Marietta was the destination printed on his bus pass.

According to investigators, a Greyhound employee spotted the butt of a gun sticking out of Brown's bag and alerted an officer who was working an extra job. That officer was shot in the hand during an exchange of gunfire, and Brown may have also been hit during that shootout, police said.

Police questioned why Brown would attempt to board a bus with weapons. But now they report that he was wanted for a shooting on Halloween night in San Francisco County. Investigators said he may have been on the run to Georgia when he stopped in Houston.

According to published reports, the California shooting, which was described as gang-motivated, ended with a 3-year-old girl and her 52-year-old grandfather with gunshot wounds.
