Marietta honors elementary school poster contest winners Wednesday.

At Wednesday's , the honored several students from for winning a poster contest as part of Public Power and Clean Water week.

The theme for the public power contest was "I am power smart," and the theme for the clean water contest was "I am water smart."

  • First Place $50: Jose Ortiz, Fifth Grade
  • Second Place $25: Terriana Gates, Fifth Grade

Clean Water Contest winners include:

  • Grand Prize $100: Peyton Blue, Third Grade
  • First Place $50: Manuel Dominguez, Fifth Grade
  • Second Place $25: Emmanuel Diaz Peralta, Third Grade
  • Third Place $15: George Thuita, Fifth Grade

This is the 25th anniversary of Public Power Week, a cross-country program to explain the importance of public power to local citizens as well as state and national officials.

It was the 12th year Marietta celebrated Clean Water Week. focuses on preserving and protecting water and uses Clean Water Week to highlight processes to protect the environment.
