KSU's College of Continuing and Professional Education Offers Three New Courses This Spring

The courses are part of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) which provides education for adults age 50 or older

This spring, the College of Continuing and Professional Education at Kennesaw State University is slated to offer three brand-new courses: “The Art of Alfred Hitchcock”, “History of Slavery and European Settlement of North America,” and “Women of Valor.” The courses are part of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) which provides education and social opportunities for adults age 50 or older.

“We are excited about our new offerings and believe students will benefit from the learning experience,” said Michelle Girage, assistant dean. “We are committed to the intellectual and personal growth of every individual. OLLI has become the place for fun and interactive learning in a safe and encouraging environment.”

Women of Valor
This course highlights the lives and accomplishments of trailblazing women who persevered hardships, overcame great adversity and achieved milestones that created pathways and opportunities for others to follow. In this class, students will learn fascinating facts about great women in history including Hedy Lamarr, Harriet Tubman, Abigail Adams and Sacajawea.

The Art of Alfred Hitchcock
This course examines the film genius of Alfred Hitchcock. Students will study seven of Hitchcock’s greatest films including ''39 Steps," "Strangers on a Train," "Rear Window," "Vertigo," "North by Northwest," and "Psycho." In this class, students will learn about the film-maker’s background, his mastery of suspense and his influence on contemporary film makers.

History of Slavery and European Settlement of North America
This course is part of “American History: A Four Part Series.” In this first course of the series, students will explore the centuries-long impact of slavery and how its residue continues to impact the modern day.
