Lassiter Band Working To Play Rose Parade

The band is one of only 13 high school bands in the nation invited to play the Jan. 1 parade in Pasadena, California.

MARIETTA, GA — The Lassiter High School Marching Band has become one of only 13 high school bands in the nation invited to march in the 2019 Tournament of Roses Parade in California.

The band, which has just begun football season, is hosting a series of fundraisers to cover the cost of sending hundreds of students, directors and equipment to the Jan. 1 parade in Pasadena.

"To be invited to perform in the historic, 130th annual Tournament of Roses Parade is an honor for Lassiter band students and it also reflects well on Cobb County and all of Georgia,: said Lassiter band director James Thompson. "We've been working hard on music and marching since July, and now we’re also focused on raising enough money so that all our students will be able to take part in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."

  • Donors may make a direct donation to the Lassiter band via Crowdrise. They may also mail a personal check made out to LBBA, P.O. Box 670253, Marietta, GA 30066.

"These kids work hard for hours at a time in the summer heat to prepare a world-class show and I don’t
want a single child to miss this trip because of a lack of money," said the band’s booster club president,
Rob Boschen. "I hope our community will help us make sure every kid makes it to the Rose Parade."
